Discussion on Making up for Shortcomings and Reinforcing the Weakness of Urban Sewage Treatment in Guangdong Province

Based on the analysis of the effectiveness and problems of urban sewage treatment during the 13th Five-Year Plan period, the suggestions of making up for shortcomings and reinforcing the weakness of urban sewage treatment during the 14th Five-Year Plan period were discussed. The research showed that during the 13th Five-Year Plan period, Guangdong Province has achieved positive advancement in urban sewage treatment, which has provided important support for the battle of pollution prevention and control, but there were also problems such as regional imbalance, insufficient efficiency, backward technical management, and imperfect institutional mechanisms. During the 14th Five-Year Plan period, it is recommended to making up for shortcomings and reinforcing the weakness in terms of solving regional imbalances, promoting facility quality and efficiency, innovating technologies and operation models, and improving institutional mechanisms, which will explore a new path for urban sewage treatment in Guangdong Province and provide demonstration experience for the country to promote the improvement of urban sewage treatment level in the central and western regions.
