Research on the Dynamic Evolution and Grade Assessment of Carbon Emissions in Xi'an

  • To find out the carbon emission base in Xi'an and understand its evolution law is the basis for realizing the dual carbon goal. Based on "IPCC 2006 National Greenhouse Gas Inventory Guidelines 2019 Revised Edition" and "Provincial Greenhouse Gas Inventory Compilation Guidelines", the dynamic analysis and emission level assessment of carbon emission laws in Xi'an were carried out. The results showed that during the period from 1995 to 2020, carbon emissions in Xi'an increased rapidly, from 8.9912 million tons to 49.1214 million tons, with an average annual increase of 7.03%. The energy consumption sector accounted for the largest proportion(77.38%~89.46%), and the automotive emission sector grew the fastest, with an average annual growth rate of 20.07%.The comprehensive index of per capita emission, emission per unit area and carbon emission increased rapidly, with an average annual increment rate of 5.28%, 6.98% and 6.22% respectively, and the emission level increased from very low(Ⅰb) to middle and lower(Ⅱa) level. Unit GDP emissions show a downward trend, with an average annual reduction rate of 6.63%. Suggestions are put forward from the aspects of innovating green and low-carbon technologies, optimizing industrial structure, and stimulating the vitality of carbon emission trading market.
