Coupling Coordination Analysis of Tourism Ecological Efficiency and High-Quality Development in Hunan Province

  • Guided by the new development concept, an evaluation system for high-quality development of Hunan's tourism industry was established, the measurement scope of tourism carbon emissions was optimized when calculating tourism ecological efficiency,and evaluation research was carried out based on a dual-system coupling framework. With 2013 and 2019 identified as key milestones,the development of Hunan's tourism industry during the study period can be divided into three phases as follows: an accumulation phase(2009—2012), a high-quality rapid development phase(2013—2019), and an adjustment phase(late 2019-2021). Since 2011,tourism ecological efficiency has consistently remained at a high level. Over nearly a decade of quality enhancements, the coupling coordination level between tourism development and ecological efficiency evolved from severe imbalance(0.01) to optimal coordination(0.992), indicating a balanced approach to both economic and environmental benefits. The development of Hunan's tourism industry has progressively aligned with the demands of the new era and can better take into account negative environmental externalities.
