Analysis of Building Carbon Footprint Based on the Life Cycle Assessment Theory
-
Abstract
Based on the life cycle assessment theory, the carbon footprint of the building phases including material production, construction, operation and dismantling were calculated according to the method and processes that regulated by Standard for measuring, accounting and reporting of carbon emission from buildings. The carbon footprint constitution of different phases was also analyzed. The results showed that the most carbon emission came from the phase of material production, accounting for 64.5%, in which steel and concrete contributed most. The results of this study would provide theory support for the construction enterprises to carry out low carbon design and construction plan optimization.
