The Management and Treatment of the Flowback Water from Shale Gas Extraction in Chongqing
-
Abstract
The potential environmental risks caused by the flowback water have attracted attention. Its impact should not be neglected of excessive chlorides concentration infracturing fluid on the ecological environment. The regulations on chlorides discharged by national and local standards criteria, the guiding technical documents for shale gas development for fracturing reflux treatment were all sorted out. In addition, the examples of the treatment of the flowback water in Chongqing and Sichuan were investigated. Then, the water environmental impact on chlorides discharged were predicted and analyzed. Finally, two environmental proposals were put forward as follows:Firstly, the life-cycle management suggestions on the flowback water treatment are proposed. Secondly, the discharged waste water should be reached the first level of the national sewage comprehensive discharge standard as350 mg/L for chlorides respectively.
