Degradation of Triclosan in Water by Ultraviolet Light-activated Persulfate Process
-
Abstract
Ultraviolet light-activated persulfate( UV/PS) was studied to degrade TCSin water. The effects of UV-light intensity,PS concentration, initial pH value, coexisting anions( Cl-,CO32-) and humic acid( HA) on degradation of TCS were studied. The results revealed that higher UV-lightintensity and PS concentration could enhance the reaction. Acidity condition was conducive to the TCS degradation. The degradation of TCS was a little inhibited by Cl-,CO32 -and HA. When the initial concentration of TCS was 5. 0 mg/L,UV-light intensity(I0)was 9. 94 m W/cm2,PS concentration was 0. 6 mmol/L,the initial pH value is 7. 0,and reaction time was 120 min,the degradation rate of TCS in water reached 96. 6%.
